Meet David

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs, and attended college in Virginia.  Between 1980 and 1985, I attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  In 1985, my wife, Elizabeth, and I moved to Pittsburgh.  Seven years later, in 1992, we decided to make our home in Aspinwall.  Thirty-one years later, we are still happy to call Aspinwall home.

For most of my working life, I have served as a medical-legal consultant for a law firm in downtown Pittsburgh.  Elizabeth has worked for more than 30 years as a registrar at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland.

Our three grown daughters, Anne, Stefanie and Christina, were born in Pittsburgh.  Each attended school in the Fox Chapel Area School District.

For many years, I have enthusiastically participated in a number of Aspinwall’s volunteer-driven events, including our community’s annual “Green Streets” litter-retrieval event and Borough-wide tree plantings with Aspinwall’s Shade Tree Commission.  I am a life-long environmentalist and have long strived to minimize my environmental impact on the planet.

While I have been politically active for many years, I first became involved in local politics in 2016-2017, during our community’s prolonged dispute over giving a local developer, known as R47, an entrance road at Eastern Avenue.  During that time, I founded and led “Priority Aspinwall,” the local citizens’ group that opposed giving the developer an access road in our community.

My work with Priority Aspinwall spurred me to run for a seat on Borough Council, to which I was elected in November 2017.  During my term on Borough Council, I chaired two different committees: first, Public Safety, which involved working with the Borough’s police and fire departments; and, second, Environmental Services, where I worked closely with members of Aspinwall’s Shade Tree Commission.

When I took the oath of office for Borough Council in January 2018, I pledged to myself and to Aspinwall residents that I would do my best to deliver responsive, informed, efficient, transparent and cost-effective government to our community.  As someone who takes the commitments he makes very seriously, I did my best, during my four years of service on Aspinwall’s Council, to fulfill that promise.

I am running for Borough Council to once again serve the community and people of Aspinwall.
